About

This is the blog of Travis & Jenny Kerr of Kenosha, Wisconsin (for the time being). We are a 30 something Navy couple with no children. We have two dogs (Basil & Brunhilda). We love to travel, thrifty treasure hunt, cook, watch movies and spend time together experiencing new things. We love going to thrift stores, ren faires, flea markets, museums, new restaurants, farmer’s markets and out of the way dusty places where all the greatest treasures hide! Travis loves beer, Colts football, soccer, collecting vinyl records, classic rock and ice cream. He coaches a local girls’ soccer team and goes to school in his spare time. He is a second class petty officer in the U.S. Navy with 6 years of service. I (Jenny) love reading, blogging, crafting, sewing, refashioning, vintage, tiki, retro living, shoes, history and decorating. I own a little Etsy shop (Bel et Vieux)where I sell misc vintage decor items, things that I hand make, vintage clothing, accessories and sewing patterns. You can find a listing of the items currently available via the page listed above. We move around a lot (thanks Navy!), but own a 100 year old home in Indiana in Travis’ home town of Bedford. I was raised in New York and Florida. We hope one day to own a little farm someplace where there are 4 full seasons a year… have some chickens, goats and maybe a cow. We currently try to grow some of our own food and buy organic when possible. An organic farm and solar powered farm house is our dream! This blog is a mixture of several other blogs and a website that I originally administrated under different names and addresses. Keeping up with all of them became very time consuming so now they are all gathered here under one name: Kerrfect! All of the back posts for those blogs (Dreams & Dust-renovation, Sew Swank – vintage crafting, The Kerr Family Blog- misc, Beautifully Bedford – small town life and The Navy Wife Life- military) can now be found here in this blog’s archives. It is much easier for me to maintain one blog and devote a lot of time to it, even if some of the other blogs were way more popular and had a lot of subscribers/traffic. Hopefully people will realize that we offer all the things they loved and more in one central location.

The point of the blog: #1) Originally, keep hubby in touch at his leisure when he was deployed. In the first 5 years he was in the Navy he went on 5 full 6+month deployments. There were years that we barely saw each other at all. He was gone far more than almost all of his superiors, with sometimes 4 times his years of service, have been in their whole careers. The blog was a site that the ship computers didn’t have blocked and that he could read when he had time instead of trying to fit all the cool things I come across in daily life into an email or 5 minute phone convo, it was all on the blog. #2) Keep far flung friends and family informed and updated on what goes on in our lives. Instead of sending out mass emails or repeating myself 100 times on the phone, it’s like a one stop family news shop! #3) To share all of the great things that I see, read or hear about with as many people as I can. I know there have to be others out there who like the same things that I like, and so this is for them. #4) Often times it helps ME keep track of things. My bookmarks would be miles long if not for the blog. Also, sometimes without a line or two that I’ve written, I’d forget why I ever bookmarked things in the first place!

I hope that you enjoy our blog as much as I enjoy making it. It’s ever changing and evolving and I hope that you either subscribe or check back frequently to see what is new in the neighborhood!

If you would like to take a one hour look into the place where I spent many a summer while growing up you can do so on Netflix by viewing Chautauqua: An Americn Narrative.
